Or perhaps more simply, the crux of the matter is, why is Jason Foumberg quoting two minions like Lorelie Stewart or Anthony Elms when it comes to the doings of the Chicago Art World? THEY ARE TWO MINOR BUREAUCRATS WHO RUN A STUDENT GALLERY.......why not talk to more artists or serious curators who are actually respected in their fields -or at least, if one must include people in the educational system when discussing the art world here, why not choose people with real credentials and intellectual/aesthetic heft -like Lisa Wainwright or, Mary Jane Jacobs?

The choice of commentary served up via either of these two studies in speciousness does little to further Mr Foumberg's standing as a serious critic/art editor.

It is a matter of fact that I was in no way involved in creating a Chicago only museum. I initially advocated a web based infrastructure to help artists here -when the goal became about an actual physical space I left the project. This was all well reported in the local press. There are numerous articles concerning the acrimony that developed between me, Tony and Paul when they both insisted on an actual museum -note that nowhere in any (besides here) article does it state that I support a Chicago only bricks and mortar space - I publicly stated at the time I did not, and I do not. -further investigation by Jason would have verified this-

As for quoting a petty bureaucrat like Lorelie Stewart (btw the next article on sharkforum will include her quotes on a facebook thread started by her chiuaua of a lapdog assistant -supposed rock drummer/failed painter/failed publisher turned local art world gadfly/apparatchik/lightweight Anthony Elms gossiping about a commercial commission I did 24 years ago for J Walter Thompson -in this thread Ms Stewart suggest that one participants words are I quote "a shiv" insinuating that I am, or should be, knifed -really classy stuff-....Mr Foumberg is also present in the online mob nodding in agreement- unbiased professional that he is!)

The piece on sharkforum is titled Studio Amidst The Fascists -which seems appropriate in describing the low life thuggery/sluggish mediocrity that epitomizes these institutionally based conformists.......that Jason chooses to quote either of these characters says more about his quality of thought and perception than it does about anything relevant when it comes to the Chicago Art world -and the people who actually matter here.

The new Loyola University Museum of Art should probably be added to the list of "Milestones", and perhaps the resurrection of the Terra Foundation as a sponsor for a variety of exhibits held around Chicago. (although it didn't do much in 2009)
